For the first time in ages I made it in to London yesterday for a bit of a mosey around before going to see JC and Marky play a gig. The trip involved shopping, culture music and comes as a 2-part blog.
If I’m going to have to pay out for a travelcard I feel I might as well maximise it’s potential so I decided that I’d go get a bit of standard culture before the pop culture. I met up with Benny and we headed of towards the big smoke.
I have to say I feel a bit sorry for Ben as once we got into town I dragged him off to Camden so I could go trawl for clothes. I’m a bugger for taking my time when I’m on a proper shop. I’m also a bugger for not being able to make a decision, and once I’d dragged him round 2 markets and scared him silly by threatening not only to buy tartan bondage trousers but also to wear them in the evening I finally gave the whole mission up as a bad’un.
Timing on this was quite good though as we needed to head back to meet up with Crispin, a friend of Benny’s from uni, who was going to come join us for the next part of our excursion, the Tate Modern. We met up at Trafalgar Square and decided to walk down to the Tate from there, mainly because I’d gotten my directions mixed up and thought it was east of Waterloo station. We took a slightly mistaken detour past the MOD on our way to the river and, once we’d sorted out which way we were meant to be going, took a stroll west along the river and over the “wobbly” millennium bridge to the Modern.
